Can’t begin to tell you how lovely yesterday’s 2nd Annual Lowcountry Local First Chef’s Potluck was. The weather was absolutely pristine: warm and sunny with a light breeze. Delicious local food and drink, the sultry sounds of Elise Testone, Matt Chase and friends and a warm and laidback crowd of local folks made for the most wonderful Sunday I’ve spent in months.

Check out our photosand videos as well as a great piece by The Digitel. Wonderful to see local producers like Rita Bachmann out and about enjoying the day and meeting the folks who appreciate the fruits (and veggies) of her labor!

In other news, we’re very excited to announce our Spring/Summer Specials for our super luxe accommodations at Lowndes Grove and The William Aiken House. If you’re thinking of a vacation or my favorite, a staycation, there’s really nothing quite like we offer in our fair city. All you need to do is decide if you’d rather be in a secret hideaway just steps from the Upper King Design District or waterfront for a spectacular Ashley River sunset. Aren’t you sweet for asking? It was swell, dear. Let me tell you.

Spent some time with our friends at Blue Ion this afternoon running through a final perusal of our new eblast system. Prepare yourselves for fantastic design, outlandish tales of wonder and more!

Incidentally, if you haven’t been by B.I.’s temporary space, you should check it out. Apparently it’s an old DEA building (bars on windows and all). It feels very dentist office-y. When I walked into the main room on the first floor where RP and DW sit, I told them I had left my insurance card with the receptionist. It’s THAT dental office-esque. Still a cool space though, especially on the second floor where MH resides in a room that is sooooo reminiscient of Greg Brady’s attic pad. They should definitely buy some beads and just complete the look.

In other news, PP is abuzz with activity. Tonight there’s a wedding at The American Theater, ceremony rehearsal at Lowndes Grove and a rehearsal dinner at Fish.

Christmas in April & Your Sunday Plans

First of all, the Southern Accents/JMC Charleston (“it’s always a party”)holiday photo shoot at The William Aiken House has now wrapped. Highlights included: a nearly 14 foot tall live Christmas tree done to the nines (it took about 4 people to get into the House and up the stairs), an exquisitely set dinner party (word has it Mitchell used some of his own china and silver) and dessert displays by our Pastry Goddess Susanna Ieronemo. All in the loveliness that is our second floor dining room. Many thanks to the JMC Charleston and Southern Accents folks. Definitely looking forward to seeing the finished product for the holidays. Oh, and wanted to remind you that you have plans this Sunday, May 3 and they are as follows:

1. Attend the Lowcountry Local First Chef’s Potluck at Middleton Place from 4 until 7 pm

Why, you ask? Oh, let’s see…fresh, local deliciousness from Fish, Middleton Place, The Glass Onion, Rev Food Group, Maverick Southern Kitchens, Coast Gill and Grill, Carolina’s, Cru Cafe, Anson, Hall’s Chophouse, Duvall Catering. AND local wine, beer, coffee, ice cream and chocolate. AND live music by our Thursday evening chanteuse (and fellow Jersey native) Elise Testone. I’m talking the absolute maximum amount of local food, drink and music that your mere human self can support. Yes, that good.

P.S. A big congratulations to the winners of the Charleston Regional Business Journal’s Forty Under 40. Check out our pal and super architectural genius Alice Guess. My favorite bit? That Alice’s first job was wrapping presents in her Dad’s hardware store. Because really, nothing says happy birthday like a socket wrench.
