A while back, Randall and I were asked by WINGS for Kids founder Ginny DeerinĀ and Liz Mester about how we here at PP were using social media. You can read all about that first meeting here.
I’m proud to share that WINGS for Kids is our next featured non-profit for Fish’s Pay It Forward Wednesday. P.S. If you don’t know about Pay It Forward Wednesdays, read this.
The WINGS for Kids programs are about empowering kids by giving them a solid emotional and social education through a fresh and fun after school program.
What is emotional and social intelligence? Self-awareness, self-management, responsible decision-making and relationship skills.
If you think we all come hardwired with those skills, think again.
ThinkĀ about all of the challenging people you’ve encountered recently…the guy who refused to make eye contact when you were speaking directly to him…the woman who started screaming in the long line at the grocery store…or perhaps the CEOs who stole the retirements from hundreds of employees.
Clearly, someone wasn’t using their emotional and social skills to their capacity.
What WINGS for Kids does, through an array of fun and engaging activities, is empower children to negotiate life with a set of emotional and social skills that will help them be happier people. Um, who can’t support that?
Whether it’s talking about how it feels to strike out in a baseball game or learning how to mindfully listen and show respect, the skills that WINGS help build will undeniably make the world a better place, one child at a time.
