“Don’t Drive Angry!”

I went to the season opener of the Charleston Riverdogs last night. It was lots of fun until I got rained out in the 8th. Notice I wrote that “I” was rained out. I have no idea if the game was rained out and I have no idea who won. I guess I’m a bad fan. I did buy a $40 sweatshirt to warm my body. That’s supportive. I have to say, I’m not a huge baseball fan. I know it’s supposed to be the All-American sport, but I find it boring. It’s too slow, nothing happens. If you need to factor in a stretch, you’re probably not going to hold my attention.  Is that wrong?

What was exciting for me was the chance to see Bill Murray!! Bill Murray, I love you!! You might not know this, but Murray co-owns the Charleston Riverdogs (weird, right?). His title within the organization is actually The Director of Fun, which makes me love him a little more. I heard all night that he was at the game. He’s the guy in the shorts. He’s the guy in the red shirt. He’s the guy with the mascot. Hmm….I just don’t know. He very well could’ve been there, but I really couldn’t make it out, which was a bummer. He was a little bit like a unicorn.

Here’s some trivia for you…Bill Murray got married (that didn’t end well) on my birthday, July 4. My other weird connection with Murray is as follows. The day before my wedding some supplies were delivered to one of my bridesmaids at SCOOP studios, a gallery downtown. Bill Murray was there, asked about it, and was told that they were for my wedding. He sent me best wishes through my friend Colleen. Yippee! Thanks, Bill.

So….get yourselves downtown tonight and maybe you’ll see the man that has given me some of my favorite movie quotes in the world. Hey, Bill, if you’re listening, come to Fish and have dinner with us! And if the bartender gives you a drink that’s not stiff enough, send it back and say, “can I have one more with booze in it?”

I generally agree about baseball, but it is better than watching golf. At least, you can drink beer and yell at the umpire. No sssshhh! when the guy is hitting the ball.
I really like Bill Murray. I think he is very funny in all his movies, but “Lost in Translation” is my favorite. But that may because of Scarlett.
My new friend, Frasier, taught him to dance at Fred Astaire in Mt. Pleasant.
I think he should hang out at Fish, too. I like it there (but I guess I have a bias).

We love Bill Murray and will always remember that great day that he walked into SCOOP studios asking if we were making a salad with all your collard greens! One of the best days of my life, not to mention a great story to tell the grandkids.
Love your blog and I still cannot believe that you aren’t into baseball. Maybe you needed to pick the dandelions in left field to completely love the game. Me? I’ve been playing since I was five. My husband was a pitcher in high school. Our daughter got a strawberry shortcake (I know. ha!) bat, ball and glove for her 2nd birthday and actually hit the ball with it on her first try. Its in our blood. Give it another try. Put me in coach!

Better than golf? I can’t disagree with you, Charles. You’ve made a great point. Maybe I just needed more beer!
I like that you have a Bill Murray connection, too. Let’s just put it out in the universe that we’re looking for him at Fish and then sit back and wait for him to show up. Thanks for your comments!

Let’s go together, Deihl. I’ll give it another shot.
